Over the period of 10 years, the SS Dienstalterslistes detailed the military careers of the men who made up the SS units—decorations, promotions, injuries, and deaths. You can also find who the SS men served with, as well as who they served under and who served under them. And much, much more!

SS Dienstalterslistes: The Value
According to the most recent statistics, German World War II relics can appreciate up to 20 percent every year.

The key to finding the pieces that produce these types of returns is choosing relics with the most historic value and enhancing the historical background of pieces already in your collection. A quick glance at the list and you'll gather information and perhaps save thousands of dollars. The lists can also help you avoid relics that may not be original.

Not only can the lists help you spot pieces of dubious origin and help determine the potential value of a relic, but it can also add details that will enhance the historical value of your collection. As you add more historical value, it may lead to better re-sale price. The information found in these volumes is an excellent starting point as you delve deeper into the history of your artifact.

You'll have the same information that professional historians and researchers have, but in a much more manageable format.

Over the period of 10 years, the SS Dienstaltersliste detailed the military careers of the officers who made up the SS units—decorations, promotions, injuries, and deaths. The list categorized members and listed, among other things:

  • World War I awards
  • Badges
  • Honor rings and Degen awards
  • Rank assignments
  • Promotion dates
  • SS Number
  • NSDAP Number
  • Officer School attended and graduation year

The 1944 list is one of the most complete and in-depth look at the organization at the zenith of its power.

This volume actually contains a collection of “lists” including the January and October Dienstaltersliste der Schutzstaffel and the July Dienstaltersliste der Waffen. The Schutzstaffel lists are a more complete and a more detailed look at that organization. Some researchers have suggested that because Waffen SS members were often farther away and in the thick of the fighting, even the maniacal zeal of German organization could not keep up with the ebb and flow of information from the battlefield.

War Merit Cross Print

The War Merit Cross awards have always been seen as somewhat of a poor relation to the Iron Cross. While the lower grades of the War Merit Cross series were indeed issued in huge numbers, the range of recipients and reasons for which the award was bestowed make a fascinating subject for study. The First Class without Swords, being issued some 91,239 times, is in fact a scarcer award than the Iron Cross First Class, and the Knight's Cross, bestowed less than 300 times is far rarer than its Iron Cross equivalent. This book provides a full-color and in-depth coverage of the awards themselves, with detailed studies of original examples and variants from a wide range of manufacturers. The reader is also given a full listing - in most cases with accompanying biographical details - of all known recipients of the Knight's Cross of the War Merit Cross. This is the most accurate listing published to date, and is the result of many years of research.

Knights of the Iron Cross Print
Militaria - Militaria

The Knights Cross of the Iron Cross (and its higher grades) Dietrich Maerz takes military collection reference works to an entirely new level. An engineer by trade, the author utilizes two major aspects of his profession - logic and attention to detail - to present the reader with a valuable and almost infallible reference volume. The combination of reason with the most detailed graphics ever presented in a militaria reference book make this volume a truly groundbreaking work. If you are considering purchasing a Knights Cross (or a higher grade), this book is the next best thing to having an experienced expert at your side as you consider your various choices. And if you are not thinking of buying a Knights Cross (or a higher grade)but are interested in the award, this book will tell you everything you could ever want to know. A 'must have' for every serious collector of the Iron Cross. Size 7 x 9.5, over 530 pictures, diagrams and data tables
